UMBRO and SOFTBALL SOUTH AFRICA JOIN HANDS

UMBRO South Africa is the new technical sponsor of Softball South Africa. In a landmark agreement between SSA Vice-President, Noore Nacerodien, and Umbro Director, Mark Byrne, a new relationship was initiated. UMBRO, manufacturer of football essentials, decided to put it's weight behing women softball in line with the BackSoftball Campaign. The first beneficiary will be the Under 16 girls team participating in the inaugural Youth Cup in Prague during August.

UMBRO is a well established British football brand based in Cheadle in Manchester, England. The company was founded in 1910, in Wilmslow, Cheshire, as Humphrey Brothers Clothing; in 1924, the company changed its name to UMBRO, a contraction of its previous name, Humphrey Brothers. In 1985, in Brazil, UMBRO introduced its first football boot, which went into production two years later. Locally the UMBRO offices are situated in Cape Town, with a national sales distribution network country wide. UMBRO SA is involved in the Spur Masidlale Coaching Programme as Technical Supplier. This programme is in its 4th year and is an extremely successful and beneficial development programme. UMBRO SA are the Technical Sponsors of the Bayhill Metropolitan Premier Cup, the biggest and most prestigious Under 19 tournament in the country, run over the Easter weekend and featuring top local teams as well as international opposition.
